We have just big signs hanging on the ceiling in the start and end of every secondary aisle on which is written what's in the aisle and then there are like two or three main aisles, from which you can easily reach every secondary aisle.

Wait....do most supermarkets not have this? Here in Australia, every single aisle has that (a sign with an aisle number and what's in the aisle)

Mine has just introduced these. They are zip tied to the front of the trolley, and we have had so much praise for them. Although I don't understand why the signage is not enough already.
