.....or (depressing thought) a person left it their because that's where a beloved soul mate got ran over by a car, and they do this every Valentine's day. .....
Man brings flowers to girls apartment. Outside on the street man sees girl walking out of appartment with some guy. Holding hands and laughing.
Man drops flowers. Walks home. Found six weeks later hanging from the neck. Chair topled over on floor. Salty stripes beneath his eyes.

A man was about to give those to his girlfriend. His girlfriend, being a true metalhead, ran towards him with a grin painted on her face and said, "Zayn quit 1D."
Little did she know that deep inside he was a dedicated fan and he headed home to clear his shrine, dropping the bouquet as he took his first step.
"For you," he said, unable to meet her eyes, fearing the rejection he just KNEW was coming. Why was he even trying?
.
"I'm... I'm sorry," she said, flustered. How would she let him down gently? "I'm flattered, really, I am, but... I can't accept these."
.
She was too kind. He knew it, she knew it, the whole fucking world knew it. If she were to take the flowers and stab him in the heart with a knife and stick the flowers in the wound, he wouldn't hold it against her. "I'm sorry. I'm dumb, forgive me."
.
"No, no!" she hurriedly exclaimed. "You're not! You're a perfectly likeable young man, just... Not by me. I'm sorry," she said again, as if any of this was her fault.
.
"I understand," he said, and he did. Why would a woman like her EVER like a man like him? Never mind the past they shared together. Never mind the dreams they had. It all went down the drain that one rainy day when he ruined it.
.
Having no more use for them, he dropped the flowers and turned away.
Why would you want to HURT me in this way?!??? I HATE YOU!
btw: your writing skills are amazing. I would happily read some more of your work, if you have it and are willing to share, of course.
//blushes profusely// why thank you! You're so kind!
I actually don't mind sharing some of my online published work, it's just that access is limited and also, I tend to stick with writing fanfiction. I don't know if that's your cup of tea, but I'll leave the link in any case.
Thanks, though. You made my day. :3

'Yours.'
She ran towards me, a smile spreading over her face, arms spread wide and hair flowing out behind her, a sheet of satin spun just for me.
'Oh...they're....they're beautiful! I can't believe you would... after so long-'
'Hey, hey. It's alright.'
I pulled her into a hug, spinning her around, savouring her warmth and the scent of daisies she always carried. Taking a step back, I held out the flowers and she took them, grinning. Her eyes were as bright as they'd ever been, flecked with green and gold, twinkling like the stars. I was lost in them. Lost in her.
'Hey, sweetie. I missed you.'
'I missed you too.'
Her soft lips met mine. They tasted of sugar and vanilla. The only comfort I'd had in such a long time.
'Honey, I need to tell you something....'
I let go of her, a shadow passing over my face.
'What is it?'
'I'm pregnant.'
'Oh my God!'
Was I going to have a son? A daughter?
Then it hit me. She'd been gone for a year and a half. Eighteen months.

'Whose is it?'
She looked away from me, her face turning pale.
'Sarah, I asked you a question. Whose is it?'
'It was an accident....just one night...oh, I'm so sorry...so, so sorry....'
'No. You promised. This was the last time, Sarah.'
I strode down the street, trying to get as far away from her as possible.
'Shaun! Shaun, I'm so sorry....I need time to explain...'
She put her hand onto my shoulder, and I spun around, shaking it off. Shocked, the flowers fell out of her hand.
I pushed her away from me.
Into the road.
The tires screeched and the driver's face blanched, but it was too late.
The flowers lay there, on the corner, a reminder of all I had done. All I had not done. A perfect symbol of wilted love.
(I tried.....please don't hate me)
