wanna know whats fucked? killing a police dog is the same as killing a human policeman. youll go to prison for murder. sadly not the case for service dogs...
apparently one officer started petting the dog then the other started freaking out. How can you watch a colleague petting a calm animal and then freak out?! Also, apparently he was shouting at the dog to 'get inside' – it's a dog, does he really think it's going to obey or even UNDERSTAND somebody screaming at it whom it doesn't know?! All services that go into contact with animals should have training- at least on how to act calm in any situation! There was nothing in this scenario that should have provoked that panic- the dog didn't bark when it got outside, it was petted by a fellow officer who was obviously calm, and yet the other guy flips out and shoots?! Utterly disgusting.
Signed.

It says that "charges weren't filed..." but this is still animal cruelty and the guy can still press charges.

Not just animal cruelty, but felony animal cruelty in the state of California. That carries a sentence of 15-20 years. He's going to end up as Bubba's bitch... If he survives the repeated beatings from the inmates. Cop in jail? He's done.
OK so its a big deal when a dog dies but when a seven year old sleeping girl (Aiyana Stanley-Jones)gets shot to death when cops go into the wrong house I don't see anybody signing any petitions talking about spreading justice then. But maybe I'm just insensitised
An accident is when you hit a car with a shopping cart. The cops made two major screw ups: going to the wrong house, then shooting and killing service animal. The next time the cops barge into your house, get freaked out by your service dog, then shoot it, come back to me with this "just an accident" bullshit. This is a royal fuckup.
My ex husband got his pitbull registered as a "service animal" so they could keep him at a place that doesn't allow pits. I want to look into the story more. Just labeling a service animal doesn't make it one. (Though the death of this animal is tragic, no matter what)
They still went into the wrong house and killed someone's pet. They had no warrant or reason.
The problem isn't that it was a service animal that died, but the police fucked up ROYALLY by killing someone's dog because they were scared.
Isn't that one of the main reasons people get a dog ? Protection ? That's what the dog was doing, so they didn't have the right to kill it.
QUOTE: "Burberry was a registered service animal that was used alongside children with Down syndrome." Did you even read any stories about it? Or just decided to comment without researching?
Well, first off, there's really no room to stretch the truth with a dog getting shot. In human cases they can usually lie and say they fought back. Charges could be falsified.
This, though, is a case where it is obvious and horrible that the police screwed up.
I know this might be advertising but i believe burberry deserves at least this much

You can't stop accidents.
