I sleep with the bedroom door open. But that's because I grew up in a country where earthquakes are the most common thing in the world. Though most of them are really minor and do not cause a lot of damage, but we've had a couple that's destroyed buildings. They can happen at any single time. You kinda learn to leave it open, or at least partially if you don't want to get stuck inside if something is blocking the door from opening.
El Salvador, my city (or the region it's in) was literally named "Hammock Valley" in Spanish, because of the intense seismic activity that's always going on. Plus, the entire country is covered in volcanoes (okay, fine, only 23), they also do not help with the whole "seismic" thing.
Have to say that I'm more worried about the fact that I sleep with my window open on the ground floor, than having my bedroom door open for the cats to get in and out.
I sleep in a room that's in the basement (1 story house) and my window stays closed. I can't even see out of it. There's also like this cage thing over it.
Are you kidnapped?
I live in the middle of nowhere in Norway tho, so it's pretty safe here. And I have alarm and in one scream there will be a 50kg guard rottweiler there, so. I'm not really worried.
I keep it open because I can see my parents's room from my door and I have had a really bad experience where they couldn't hear me scream because the doors were closed.
My room has to be perfectly dark and the door has to be closed in a specific way for me to sleep properly. If these conditions aren't met I can still sleep but it doesn't feel the same
Since most of the doors in my house slide into the walls and the tracks have shifted out of alignment over the years I just don't use them plus I inadvertently put two rather large screws through the one.
or sleeping by an open closet...or window open on the ground floor....or sleeping with a bed off the ground... or sleeping with your feet out of the covers regardless of cold....or sleeping with your eyes closed.....forget it, sleeping is too much of a risk altogether.
My home has a single rule: Open doors. (unless you're in the bathroom). Who can people sleep with their doors closed and not feeling like they're trapped? I wonder... I wonder...
