they are flat, but he doesn't put them evenly above one another, to make it look shorter, it's to the left, to make it look longer it's to the right, but hexy thinks it's the same

I said it already twice maybe that its how he lines up the top corner of one to the bottom of the other hexy thinks one is closer to the camera than the other in reality both peices are the same size and on a level surface
It's a forced perspective shot. It is a three-tiered background covered with black cloth to conceal that card B is initially closer to the camera, then further away from the camera before covering card A.

I dont think so its how they are lining up the corners the top of b to the bottom of a. If you had a ruler or straight endge and pukl thw top corners of both up to it it would look the same
It isn't about perspective... Lining up the corners makes one look shorter, since the corner is angled. When it's angled, to line it up you put it further back, making it look shorter
Kind of hard to get a point across to some people. They just aren't able to see what others are telling them and are just so convinced their idea is right
I think its like on a stair-like platform, covered by a soft, dark cloth (like velvet, which is usually chosen because it is fuzzy enough to hide edges), with the 'a' card in the middle, and the b card (which is the same size as the 'a' card) is moved from the higher up stair (and therefore closer to the camera) to the one lowest stair (and further away from the camera) on the step lower than the 'a' card.
Now, the reason why this works is that the eye doesn't get to see depth from the camera angle, and the cloth is concealing the stairs.

Ok thats what I thought. That would also work but thats not how this is done. Its done by lining up the top angle of one to the bottom of the other. Ill go make the video in a minute
.
It's a curve, the outer edge is longer than the inner edge, simple as that.
