Is not about being "funny". I mean, that kid, with just a little spank, he would just calm down and stop whining and misbehaving.

I have a one year old daughter and she does pretty well for the most part in public but honestly I worry about the day that she does go nuts in a store because I am not opposed to a butt smacking if they deserve it; but in public now-a-days I worry that someone would turn me in for child abuse. *sigh* I do the best I can to keep her calm and entertained in public

Well, I think that no one minds, if the child is sometimes little bit loud, but the mother (or anyone taking care of it right now) should do something with it, at least tell it to calm down or explain or whatever. Like I don´t mind noisy children, until their mothers are trying to calm them down, but when the children is misbehaving and the mother doesn´t care I don´t even want to tell what am I plotting to do both of them.

In my opinion, beating children is wrong. If a child misbehaves, it's almost always the parent's fault. If kids aren't disciplined, they pick up bad habits. How is it their fault? Besides, a spanking can easily turn into a lot more. Personally, my father began with simple spankings, and whenever that didn't work, he'd straight up hit me. This isn't always the case, but there IS a reason that spanking is looked down upon.
