Actually, odds are they may have signed some kind of waiver or their parents did. Also, it seems like minors don't get all the same rights as adults do. At least in real life anyway.

yeah, at my school you have to sign a crap form that allows them to punish you and I think maybe allows them to search you technically if you wanna go there. its total crap... and im pretty sure teachers do things technically outside their rights all the time, but you cant do crap about it.

Phones aren't allowed in my school either, but of course some of the students ignore that. I remember one time the administration was going through classes searching for any cellphones and my classmate placed hers in a plastic bag and literally put it in the garbage can. When the search was over, she just pulled it out like nothing had happened.
