I did the same thing with my cat. He was strangled as a kitten so he could not meow. He was skin and bones because he wouldn't eat the shealter food. He wouldn't let the people clean him, so his fur was dirty and matted. He had scarred patches where fur didn't grow at all. Plus, he was an adult, which is not what people want.
He was being taken out to be euthanized when I saw him.
He is now one of the happiest kitties I've ever seen, living with me.
It's a social media account where this guy takes pictures of people around New York and posts it with a little something written about them. You should check it out. It's pretty neat!
OK, I'll be *that* person:
Now an otherwise healthy animal will be euthanized because you picked the one that's going to require extra care all iots life. That's your choice.
Maybe that's bad to think this way, but I can't help but notice that every time an animal shelter jumps through hoops to save an animal that's near death and then starts pleading for money because they don't have enough...you could have saved 100 otherwise slightly sick animals for the heroic surgery that saved one.

"Where, Sargent!?!?"
"Right in the feels!"
