Is that a genuine laugh, or a laugh to mask the pain...?

I love how relaxed Obama is as a person. He can take jokes without the Secret Service abducting anyone.

so rude, i mean he is your president, respect him a little bit and when you get invited to the white house too. that's just not cool at all as you want the public know that you can talk like that in front of the president, it's just plain rude.

I think she's respecting him by not giving him special treatment. Yes, he is the president, but he's still a person. It's good he can laugh at jokes about himself.

I think people would be serious around him if he took himself seriously. It'd be a bit awkward to be the president cracking jokes all the time and everyone just laughs politely and never jokes back, wouldn't it?

you really think he will be mad in front of the camera. like what you said, he is still a person, so there are no people in this world would laugh if a person make a fool of them, embarrass them in public. because he is the president he laugh because people expect him to, but i think he still feel bitter inside even just a little bit. take it this way, if you are a boss, in your office , and your employee make a joke that embarrass you in front of your other workers in your company, i think you would feel bitter about it even just a little

I honestly don't think he was embarrassed. Have you seen some of the stuff he's done?

people really should feel blessed they got president like obama, he is easy going to the citizen, didn't get mad when you make joke about him. can you do this if your president was george w bush, what do you think if people make a joke about bush ? Obama is really kindhearted, you are lucky you didnt get kim jong un or putin as your president.

Bush was known for being able to take a joke. On the other hand, being able to joke is not what makes you a "good president". A good president should actually know how to deal in international affairs and defend our country. A good president does not play golf while people are videoing themselves beheading and crucifying other people. A good president, after seeing one of those videos, would fly back to the White House and sit down with the secretary of defense to talk about how to stop the problem, instead of laughing and continuing to the 12th hole. Downvote me all you want, but that's how I feel

I don't think the guest was trying to make the point that he's an amazing president, I think they were trying to say at least he doesn't lock up the entire country or make homosexuality illegal. Still not a very good point.

Also, due to the first amendment we can crack a joke about government officials without getting locked up in jail.

Returning to the topic that actually started this thread, it's traditional to crack jokes about the President at the White House Correspondents' Dinner. It's not disrespectful, it's expected.
