If we take what we know about the creatures as fact, and apply science after accepting said facts, vampires would not be able to breed with anything. Let alone humans. Sadly, this does away with Blade.
But they are dead, or rather undead. They have died, their bodies cease aging, cell life depletes, and the body cools. They are cold because their cells aren't moving fast enough to maintain life.
