There are many misconceptions about being Christian. I am a Christian but I am not homophobic. Being Christian is different than being a fundamentalist. Fundamentalist follow every single thing that has been written in the bible. However, the average Christian does not. Many people label people who are homophobic as "Christians." But in reality, even atheist can be homophobic.
It's not that we think only Christians are homophobic, its just that most of the people who actively protest against it are Christian. That being said, I know that the majority of Christians don't do that and I think its unfair that a select few are giving everyone else a bad name.
It's like that with every group or organization. The extremists with the loudest mouths are the only ones heard, and so the institution as a whole is seen like those few. Kinda like how feminism is a worthy cause, but the extreme feminazis are lending the entire movement their bad name.
There's two problems with that:
.
First, they are picking and choosing which of the rules to follow and which to ignore. Christians vehemently oppose gay rights under the guise that it goes against the bible, yet ignore the majority of, if not all the rules in Leviticus, Deuteronomy and Numbers. Picking and chosing which rules to abide by makes them out to be hypocritical in the extreme.
.
Second, they are hijacking legislative bodies to mandate their "morals" by the rule of law. Enforcing morals by law is not only a violation of basic human rights, but in the US, it is a violation of the First and Fourteenth Amendments.
I'm not saying it isn't/wasn't. What I'm saying is that they choose to preach against homosexuality, but not against tattoos, makeup, wearing of mixed cloth, divorce, ect.
Actually, no its not. A good 80%(guesstimate) do. Its just that they fall prey to their desires and try to play it off so they don't feel guilty about themselves.

No, no no no. And no. Im sorry but ultimately of you look at almost any and every war it's about money but it's all covered up to blame something or someone else.
I am not trying to start an argument, but reasons like this are why I am no longer a Christian, I don't dislike anyone based on their beliefs, but when they dont even follow their own religious "laws" it makes me wonder what the truth actually is.
