But Constantinople was the capitol of the Byzantine empire after the schism of Christianity, and so wasnt truly "roman". the western roman empire fell in 476CE (AD) (yes, the roman catholic church made the "holy roman empire" but it was not holy nor roman nor an empire so let's not count that)
