The longbow was never meant to kill a knight in his armour, the idea was to kill his horse, leaving him trapped and easily killed with a knife through his helmet's eyeslot or under the armpit after the charge had been broken.

When my grandpa came back from WWII, there was this unspoken rule in the family that you didn't talk about the war and that's how they dealt with it. I guess I'm thinking of something like that.
