great idea, but there's just not enough money. I hate to say it but this just isn't realistic. but I do agree with the whole wall street needs to pay for us for once idea
What do you mean there's not enough money? We're literally the richest country in the world and have been for over 100 years. If thinking realistically isn't trying to provide education to the citizens controlling society in a few years then I don't know what is. It may seem far fetched to some people but almost every other developed country has a system like this already and are majorly surpassing the U.S. education wise while we argue on whether or not we can efford education to the public after the country spends $45 billion a year on pet while the rest of the world lives on less than a dollar a day.
that's true we are the richest. however, we're also trillions of dollars in debt. also, to be able to provide education for the millions of kids in the country. let's say $15,000 per kid, well that's millions of dollars. not to say we didn't already bail out Wall St. millions. however I DO think it's possible to provide every kid with an education from a community college/two year school. that way they have all their general education and they can go to any university.
Hears an idea: tax the upper class more. They have the most money, the don't ever use it for anything useful, so they should pay the most money. Problem solved.
So no matter how hard I work to become prosperous, I'll never get to enjoy all the fruits of my labor?
This strategy would make success too unappealing, we'd eventually not have an upper-class.
Because no-one wants to work for nothing, and others would be able to ride on the coattails of the prosperous, we'd end up worse off than before.
I agree with the latter. Income tax is already really high. taxing the wealthy has NEVER WORKED IN HISTORY. what will work is to quit giving away "free" things to people who don't work.
Interestingly enough, federal tax receipts go UP when tax rates have dgone DOWN. There's more economic activity, plus less need to jump through hoops to shift taxable income. "The Rich" will always have armies of lawyers to minimize their taxes...I mean, even higher tax advocate Matt Damon is a corporation so that he can take advantage of all the loopholes available for his multi million dollar take of each movie.
Jokes on you I've never been on tumblr, but I have been to college even taking a course while in high school. I'm self taught in machinery repair, welding, electrical system wiring, even running a personal business. I get up at 4 am daily take care of 300+ cattle and manage my farm solo, what did you do today?

'I'm self-taught in running a personal business'
Hmm.
