Most likely down, but that could also be the lip to hold poured cement (just not filled all the way, or sunken from use).

the way I see it, If it was going down, the stairs would be starting at a wall, so even though the side things are there, to me it seems to make more sense that the cat is going up the stairs. (Sorry if that was confusing lol)

I said down because the light source is in the back and i assumed that would be the sun.

I still stand by my up statement.

Where I used to live, many stairs had a piece of grip on the lip of the stairs, so it still isn't solved

A rubber bullnose. It's very common on stairs in commercial buildings

I see that the cat's paw is vertical and not horizontal so it looks like it's going up

So I always doc the architect shit but I just noticed the paw so what I assume is that the photo is of a stair case and the picture was taken from the bottom of the staircase and the cat was photoshopped in from a picture of a cat going up a staircase. That's why it confuses us. Because in the cars original picture it's going up but in this one it's going down. Conclusion: the cat is going down (in this picture)

It's going up how can a stair block the bottom step if the cat was going down ?
