Our eyes can only see a very narrow band of the entire electromagnetic spectrum. So in some way we are blind to a whole range of colours we cant see.

That's pretty true for any of our senses. We're missing a LOT of stuff I'd say. But, I'm not sad, cause life is pretty good no matter what.

Why the hell not? They have 16 different kinds of colour receptors, it would be amazing to see as they do.

Actually, I found this particular gem on another post here. Or maybe it came from when I read the long-distance running one, also first found here. Purple Japanese drinks, man, what can I say?

That's a good point. And almost certainly true. But this picture make me uncomfortable.

Our eyes can see a fair bit into the infrared except our cornea blocks out the IR. It also blocks out the ultraviolet I think so it keeps our eyes from getting cooked...

Or what if your eyes had a wider range to interpret color. How would our brain interpret the other frequencies? With different colors from the ones we know? Or would it just be deeper and deeper reds or violets? We may never know.

Animals have senses we don't have, or at least more acute senses
