Back on topic, my problem with this is that some earbuds are clearly designated with a certain orientation with a marking clearly dictating which ear it's intended for. Apple earpods for example. Gummi earbuds too.

you have to put the right one in the left ear then (for example), so it will fit

But it goes against the label and intended purpose, and thus is technically wrong. Of course, if it floats your boat...
