I guess he/she meant Northern Ireland. That'd make a lot more sense.

If they did mean it, they should have preceded it with Northern, because Ireland by itself implies Southern/Republic of Ireland

Yes, like that, I suppose. Enlighten me, what exactly happened? I know about Sinn Fein, Collins and the Irish Revolution that resulted in Ireland being divided into the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, and how Collins was killed during an apparent ambush etcetera etcetera, but my knowledge is not as detailed as yours.

Okay, well as far as the Anglo-Irish treaty goes pretty much the country was split between those who were for it (Free staters) and those who were against it (Anti-treaty forces). Going back a wee bit before the treaty was signed Collins was decided to go and negotiate a treaty with the English, Collins got the most out of the English that anyone could (the 26 mainly Catholic counties as a separate country and the 6 more Protestant counties staying with the Brits). Collins had no other choice than to sign it and the mindset of the free staters was more of a "we get this part now and we'll work out how to get the rest later on" whereas the anti-treaty forces were pretty much saying "all or nothing", Civil war then broke out (in my opinion our nations darkest time, even darker than the Famine) over which side you supported. Apparently there's bits and pieces of evidence that De Valera may have even helped with the early stages of planning the Beal na Blath assassination and could have

That stereotype is so stupid the way everyone not from ireland thinks everybody here has orange hair ....in my school there are i think 2 or 3 with red hair out about 2000 students...and the way when ever i go abroad everyone is like "why dont you have orange hair? Why dont you talk like a leprechaun -your not irish" seriously......
