We do play ball/field hockey in gym class and we are aware that other types of hockey exist, but to us, the only real hockey is ice hockey.

If you're playing league hockey, you usually can't be a hillbilly redneck. Hockey equipment is expensive. As a child I only played one season on the ice because I outgrew my gear and we couldn't buy a new set.
