I realize that some girl's don't want to date their friends, and that's perfectly fine. But leading him on just to get free crap is just f$cking low.

Maybe she was going on all those dates to find out if he was boyfriend material, but was confiding her doubts about him to her friend. You never know...

True, it just seems to be more sensible to let him know how you feel about the situation.
I kind of feel like the guy briefly listening in on her conversation might not have the full story... Maybe shouldn't go around calling a person " a piece of human garbage"
I don't know, dude, to me it feels like she's deciding whether or not he's "boyfriend material", and there is nothing shallow about that. He took her on a few dates which is very nice of him, and yes, if she made him pay for everything she's a bitch, but maybe they just went out together, he paid for himself and she paid for herself, and she is just deciding whether she likes him that way or not. She doesn't owe him anything for taking her out, maybe just the money she let him pay, if we really want to dig into this "social justice" thing.
It feels to me that unless we have the entire conversation instead of just bits and pieces of it, we can't really judge. Although I agree that women who lead men on thinking they have a chance so they can receive gifts are indeed shallow bitches.
I think you're missing a big point. He took her to the zoo & park & the mall. She didn't call them dates. Maybe she has high expectations like long, romantic dates that people can do on TV shows. Sounds like she wanted to be swept off her feet, not go out with a male friend to see if it could be more.
As for me, I would love a guy do that for me. Take me out like a friend and see if it sparks into more. Cause if I sleep with a guy, I want to know if I can still stand looking at him a week later after the sex buzz wears off.
It's a possibility, although I can't imagine anyone to be naïve enough to still believe that what happens on TV should happen in real life.
