those hoodies ARE, in fact, avaliable in the stores, you know. you can buy yourself one.
but that's not what this is about , is it. 'stealing' a hoodie from your boyfriend or whoever and wearing it is a status symbol. sort of similar if guys wore their girlfriends' knickers on their heads to let the whole world know they're getting some, right?
When i was in a long distant relationship with my bf his sweaters were and are more of a comfort than anything else. I loved wearing them because it was like having a warm hug and his scent was still on them and would comfort me when i was having a bad time
It's not the same. If you get it from someone you care about it has sentimental value as well.
And as with badwolf, I am in a long distance relationship and I just LOVE wearing my bfs hoodie more than my own. I know this may sound weird but I just love his smell, though by now it's worn off.
You've all got a valid point there, I understand that. Trick is, tho, this post says you wear those hoodies because of huge pockets. Wouldn't it be better, then, to say you wear it because it reminds you of your significant other and thus comforts you, etc?
As for status symbol, I'll explain it again. Wearing your boyfriend's hoodie is a way of announcing the whole world that you, in fact, have a boyfriend. Similarly the way wearing a lot of jewellery makes your money visible to others. it's a symbol of your status: taken, rich, ...
Well, I don't really wear my boyfriends hoodies out. They're more a comfortable thing to wear inside. Everyone's reasons for keeping the hoodies is different. Some got theirs from a SO, some may have them from friends or even previous relationships, but I think the main reason people keep them is because they're comfy to wear. They already have them so there's no point in throwing them out.
Just because you're wearing a boys hoodie doesn't mean you have a boyfriend. You could be wearing a male family members hoodie or you could have just bought one simply because you like them. Because you're wearing a boy hoodie, doesn't mean you have a boyfriend
" wow, that's the biggest pocket I've ever seen ! "
And warmth
They have this arm flappy thing
And big pockets for att the stuff
And theyre so warm
and comfy...
You are never getting it back!
And I have at least 5 stolen sweaters ö_ö
