This post is obviously funny and my panties aren't in a bunch about it or anything, but just so people know, medical problems that result in people having to have rascals and scooters can leave them prone to weight gain due to immobility, it's just a vicious cycle

And most of them have medical problems as a result of being fat.
Very true, but there are some people who just eat and don't care. As a health care worker it gets to me, They can prevent a lot by being more conscious and help themselves as well as the people who end up caring for them

A lot of medications for pcos and pain conditions like fibromyalgia have weight gain as a side effect. Also if you can't walk well its hard to stay fit and exercise
All of this "mobility issues can cause a vicious cycle" is such shit. If it were true, there wouldn't be sports for paraplegics, or a special Olympics. If you want to change yourself, you will. If you're content with blaming your medication, then you will continue to suffer and wallow in self pity.

Or hey maybe everyone's disability isn't the same...

My mum is in a wheelchair because of a painful nerve condition that also causes random swelling, loss of muscle control, and confusion. Her medications have a side effect of weight gain, but she also can't really exercise. She can't brush her own hair or get dressed on her own.
So don't fucking tell me that mobility issues have nothing to do with weight gain or that she's lazy. Everyday I have to see a once vibrant, fit, and confident woman struggle with simple everyday things, so don't fucking tell me its her own fault that she's overweight
I'm sorry about your mum! My mom has been in a nursing home since she was 45 after having a brain aneurysm. She needs complete care too and she has gained lots of weight but she is in no position to go exercise. I'm sure she'd love to be an athlete in the special Olympics. Or feed herself for that matter. Maybe others should consider the possibility that they don't always completely understand other people's situations.
Your mother is not the type of case that this post, or my comment is referring to. This is about those who have the option to live a normal life, but choose to wallow.
So don't swear at me because your comprehension is clouded by rage. I was not insulting those who cannot function, I was commenting on the fact that there are millions of people out there with limitations who don't let the limitations hold them back. People with the same problems as those who choose to blame hardships on their disability rather than strive to be the best them that they possibly can be.
My cousin had cerebral palsy and was quadriplegic, I understand that some people cannot work on themselves physically, but for someone that couldn't move or speak, he sure was great once you put a paint brush in his hand. He didn't cry or complain when he had hour long seizures, he just told the people around him that he loved them.
Downvoted for telling people who think things are hopeless, that there is still happiness to be had if you work hard enough. Funsubstance is turning into where.

Making snap judgments about someone in a wheelchair is exactly what this post is about. And your comment about the Special Olympics is ignorant at best. Everyone with a disability is different and has different capabilities. Just like someone with down syndrome could be high functioning or could be unable to tie their own shoes.
This entire thread is about people complaining about the disabled being lazy without knowing their personal or medical history
You are right. Every one is different. But I understood as I believe many here the people in the picture appear to be overweight and otherwise healthy. I'm sorry about your mom but actually in my case I would be upset if they take the space of someone with a, for example, congenital disability that had not options. I think we are referring to two different topics. God bless you! By your words you sound like a loving daughter or son (never know with usernames)
If anyone actually wanted to find the original story that is accompanying this photo, just type the title into google and click the imgur link. I would link it but I can't right now
Stuff this, they dont know whats wrong with those ladies. My friend has Lupus and has had a stroke, she was very fit but now can't exercise at all or walk properly. She's not lazy shes sick. Making assumptions makes you an ass.
The original post said that they were perfectly fine walking from their cars to the venue then there. The scooters aren't these ladies, they were rentals ones from the place (the OP saw them getting them, standing and walking perfectly fine) so they aren't using them all time, just now. This is why the original OP said this (because the title was stolen from there), not just based of the fact that they are fat but from other things he saw as well. Apparently they also went straight to the front in front of a bunch of children then proceeded to talk the whole time. I'm sorry about your friend but that's not exactly what is going on here.
The scooters that the women are in are rentals from the facility. These women can walk and do not own scooters of their own.

My aunt rents scooters from where she goes and uses the ones in grocery stores. She can walk, but it's very painful. She can't afford her own because her insurance wants her to prepay it
