Well the men would be fasting and the woman wouldn't be, so she wouldn't want to get caught eating something an potentially tempt the man. Also just out of common courtesy, you know?
Has it occurred to anyone here that maybe the Muslim women actually are committed to fasting for Ram'dan because they acually want to keep from offending their husbands or causing them to stumble because they (and here's the crazy part) might actually want please their god whom they love? Has it occurred to anyone here that American feminism just is not accepted in many parts of the world because it is a selfish philosophy that seeks to cut the throat of religion worldwide and set up in its place a bloody whore goddess? And so maybe this is why the hijab is still worn willingly by so many Muslim women, and why so many Christian and Jewish women stay home to raise a family instead of pursue a career, because selfish, murderous, brutal American feminism and peaceful, family-oriented world religions are incompatible? Feminism is nothing more than a new religion based on abhorrently selfish motives where its adherents are, according to themselves, incapable of any wrong...
So thanks to Muslim girls for covering yourselves instead of running around 99/100ths naked like so many perfumed dogs, and for supporting your husbands through their self-sacrifice.
Well, yes, I mean, fasting is a hard thing to fake. Like, if you're not gonna get the points for it, don't bother starving yourself, right? You do it right or you don't do it. But (putting modern "feminism" aside, I'm talking about old-school good feminism) Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) is considered a feminist by many scholars. I mean, take a look at the era of ignorance (that's what it's called in my language; the time before He was born) and the women, and then take a look at how the Quran tells Muslims to treat women. Have you ever seen the movie "The Message" (1977). The scene where Cafer and Amr are going back and forth about their own religions (Islam and Idolatry, respectively), Amr makes it clear that he and his tribe view women as things to be bought and fed and clothed and used and thrown away, while Cafer says that he was taught by the Prophet to respect all women as he respects his mother.
I was only talking about western feminism, which is a self-centered, self-entitlement, anti-religion, not about human equality, which is a universal good.
You're acting like all Muslims and only Muslims go through that. That's actually very racist and rude considering there's actually a lot of places that do those things and you're erasing the hardships by simply wrongly namin them Muslim.
It seems like this guest only got their education from cartoons like family guy.

They don't have to sneak around? It's the men's responsibility to control themselves and endure any pain they might feel but it certainly isn't the women's fault nor are they to blame. Go Muslim women! <3
It's not about controlling themselves, it's just feels awkward eating in front of them, no more no less! Beacuse usually we don't talk about the period. It's okay if they saw us eating they understand it but the problem is with the kids who don't know about this thing they would run and tell everyone that their sister isn't fasting she is lying..and this is the most embarrassing thing that could happen to you!

Wait, are women allowed to eat if they have their period during ramadan? I know there are certain circumstances in which muslims are allowed to eat during the day, but is that one of them?
Well, yes and no. There's the rule of thumb that "anything comes out of your body (puke, blood, urine etc) you break your wudu (the cleaning up you have to do before prayer and a bunch of other things)" but you don't need a wudu for fasting. For that, it's more to make things easier for the women. On her period, the woman will have cravings for food, be really fatigued, stressed, and in pain. To add hunger on top of all that, it would be difficult at best for the woman to fast.
Tl;dr: periods "break" wudus (technically if you're on your period, you can't take a wudu anyway) and make life hard in general as it is.

Ah okay, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining :)
During Ramadan, when a woman gets her "monthly", she doesn't have to fast, but men still do. So the woman can eat, but it's easier on both the woman and the man if the man doesn't see her eating during the day.
It's a month (29-30 days) in the Islamic year where Muslims must fast(no food and no water) from sunrise to sunset, in some cases they are allowed to eat. The reason of fasting is to teach you to control your self (your desires) and your behavior, and to feel the poor people and appreciate what you have.
This comment thread makes me so happy because it's just so nice to see people curious and learning about a cuture different from their own; especially a holiday for Muslims in which you hear how peaceful and giving they are, as opposed to everything we hear on TV.
Whats easy for you can be hard for someone else
And assuming something is hard because it'd be hard for you and then giving props to them is nice, not bullshit.
At least this isn't that stupid isis account from a few days ago.
Oh my god did that just happen XD
Hahaha
And, dear guest, you're right, some days fasting comes really easy to me, but some days it doesn't. (Besides the point that this post wasn't about fasting, it was about /not/ fasting.)
No you can call it whatever you want. You want to follow muhamo-mcdonald? cool. Good for you. Your belief is constant social abuse from your husband, the person who is supposed to love and protect you? Fine. Live your non existence. But don't you shovel your beliefs on us. Feminism isn't a bloody whore, its a philosophy, and unto its existence according to the Quran a religious idol. I won't paint a picture of the prophet, but you will not call my freedom a whore, or whatever derogatory statement you'd like to call it. Its a right, not a privelege. Im sorry you chose to dedicate your life to someone else's opinion, but that's on you. We won't judge you. But I will judge you when you judge me. This is called equality, a value we cherish here in America. You can be Muslim here in America, but ONLY as equals to everyone here, religion or not.
There is so much wrong with your comment, I'm not even sure where to begin. Ok, maybe the other guest was insensitive by insulting the feminists, but that doesn't give you the right to call my religion "constant social abuse from your husband" and a "non existence", because you just did to us what you're complaining of happening to you. Also, saying you won't paint a picture of the Prophet is cool and all, and I thank you (?) for it, but a couple of sentences ago you called him "Muhamo-McDonald" which is totally NOT okay.
Ummm, Muslim women aren't oppressed in America. ( a lot of free religion places they aren't as far as I know )
And actually can't Muslim women choose to wear hijabs and burkas ? Like they aren't forced to.
Guest, do you even know anything about Muslims besides the Saudi Arabia stereotype ?
Or thrown in prison... or beat by that husband you love...

Don't agree with yourself
