considering how easy it is to mangle it just taking the backing off, i cannot imagine removing the sections without jacking it all up ever working

Solution: Have the backing perforated as well, then tear off the appropriate sections before removing the backing.

i still feel like you live in a fantasy world. you ever open those packages that say "open here" with a little cut in the wrapper? how well does that usually go? i mean once in awhile, sure perfectly torn pour spot. but thats not the norm.

True, the perforations would have to be very well made.

i feel like if they abandoned teh idea of perforations and just made the x-shaped patch (with the four removable bits already gone) it would probably work well, but trying to remove the bits, esp being that small, very impractical. the sort of product everyone would buy once and never again.
