I have only tried it during my period, but if you have cramps you can jump in the shower and let the water hit your stomach for about 10 mins, that'll help too
or just put a neat pad on your abdomen. sweet sweet warmth. we used to have machines at work that had a hot part that stuck out a bit and it was right at abdomen height for me... would go stand in front of it for a few minutes whenever i could during that week.
