Yes! Because then people learn not to take food allergies and intolerances seriously. Sneak some dairy into my food to see what will happen? I shit my pants, that's what happens
I actually read something where this chick ordered a Chai tea at a coffee place because she couldn't have dairy and the barista still put it in there anyway.
And another one where other chick couldn't have dairy so she asked for a soy latte and the chick gave her a regular one because she " knew the customer was just on a fad diet " but she actually ended up having to go go the hospital because of it.
And another time this boy died because he couldn't have something in regular soda, so they asked for diet, and the cashier gave him regular and he ended up not having enough medicine in the epi pen type thing.
( sorry for the long reply )
Happens often to myself and my mom, with diabetes. We're both thin and when I go to Starbucks etc. I always order a skinny drink with whip, because whip cream is amazing. I know they think I'm a fad dieter and a lot of the time they just do full sugar and I'm so sick later. Gah
Nah, but like, people do not care.
You can say you don't like tomatoes and for a restaurant to not put them on their food, but they'll still do it. If you say you're allergic there's much of a less chance itll be there.
And if they say they don't like it they always get the " oh come on just try it " and people guilt them and force them to eat food they don't like and they seem like the bitch.
Is there really a problem with it ?

Ya, because cooks have to use all fresh utensils, completely clean their workspace, and use fresh pots/pans when you have an allergy. Too many people lie about an allergy and then later admit it and the chefs get pissed off and stop taking these requests seriously
Well that I understand
But I've had to lie at school plenty of times because classmates would try to make me eat stuff that I really hated and they wouldn't take no for an answer
Same with at home and when someone wants to take me somewhere where the food makes me gag at just the smell.
Man, screw them. You know what you like and don't like and there's nothing wrong with that. My mums parents forced her to eat liver, so growing up she asked me to try new foods but never forced me to eat anything I didn't like
I can't do tomatos like I'm not allergic but I'm basicially mentally allergic because I'll throw up if one comes near my mouth, so I just say tomatos make me throw up, which is true, even though it's not an allergy...
Well the thing is, if you don't like tomatoes in your food you can always put them aside and even if there's a trace of them in the food, you won't recognize it and won't have a problem with it. But when you're allergic even this trace could harm you. There's also the thing with fresh utensils and pots as ericar mentioned, because you're giving the restaurant staff extra work for nothing. And touching life stories are great and all but literally nobody in the restaurant is going to care. The question is: allergic or not? If not, no special treatment for you. Allergies are a medical condition. Not liking stuff is your personal thing and as I said you can always put it aside or just ask the staff not to put it in there, but if it's cooked with the same equipment as the one before, you won't be able to tell anyway.
I'm allergic to a certain food but it's a pretty unheard of allergy and I get a pretty bad reaction to it but most people believe I just don't like it so they put it in the food anyway.
You know what? I have things medically written off as allergies because they give me such bad migraines. I do not have an anaphylactic reaction to them but the pain they cause puts me out for sometimes over a day, which is a long time.

If I have grapefruit I will seize up, go into a coma, and probably die. It severely interacts with a medication I take
How does the anti anxiety pill affect your mental abilities and your mood? I want to look into it because I also get a lot of anxiety. And boy can I tell you stories....

I started on elavil but it gave me weird hallucinations when I got tired. Now I'm on paxil and, although it took 2 weeks to really kick in, it has been great! It doesn't affect my mental abilities at all, just makes me more relaxed. I don't get upset over little things anymore, haven't had a panic attack in nearly a year
That sounds SO nice... I got an anxiety attack over a math test last year. A MATH TEST. It wasn't even the worst... But I had to switch classes. That's not even the worst thing I've flipped out about
I am legitimately seriously gluten intolerant. I asked the waiter at a cafe what was GF, they lied and said my order was GF when it wasn't. I was sick as a dog. And I had to go to a function 2 hours later. That probably was the worst few hours of my life. I get a gastro like reaction and severe gut pain.
Well ... Yeah you would get gut pain. Gluten intolerance makes it so when you eat gluten it ruins the villas ( I think ? ) in them and so it fucks your body up and you can't absorb as much nutrients because of it
Tbh I'd have gone back and yelled at them for fucking up THAT bad
