They've admitted this was all BS. She warned them that they were being stupid. Then the film crew asked the locals to play along.

I don't understand why it's cool to provoke and ridicule one group of people and not the other group.

1: You obviously don't know top gear if you're taking this too seriously.
2: Having an opinion on these matters, shouldn't warrant the throwing of rocks and harmful activities.

That's kind of exactly my point you make fun of white southerners fine. You make fun of Asians you get fired.

They aren't actually. Saying, "vote for hillary", or "nascar sucks" isn't making fun of white southerners. Saying, "all white southerners have iq's smaller then their shoesize", would be making fun. the same way everyone says all asians are smart and then make jokes about it if they know one that isn't. All they're doing is stating some opinions on their cars.

By implying that these statements would anger people in the south to a point that it would be unsafe for them, they are essentially saying people there are less intelligent in the south. Also by your logic if they did an episode where they went to Detroit and had things like, "watermelon sucks" and "KFC is for losers" everyone would have to be fine with it because they're not directly making fun of anyone correct?

I'm not getting your point. Are you trying to say all people in Detroit have a love for KFC and watermelon to the point where they would throw rocks at someone for saying they hate watermelon?
theflyingdutchman · 9 years ago
Ok you're not understanding, I fucking love nascar and you can talk about how much you love jimmy Johnson but when you say shit like nascar sucks... And it was quite obvious that they were making fun because they wouldn't stop saying redneck and he said "they shot their sign what are they going to do to us" like come on they made me mad and I'm just a city slicker you understand sweet pea?

So because he said nascar sucks you take offense to it. See i find this funny because it's such a stupid thing to get offended over. Thats like if someone said he hated a movie you loved. Big fucking deal. And just because they expected some hate doesn't mean they deserved it. They went in stating harmless opinions including pro-gay marriage and all you fuckers can think of is, "Oh no the poor white southerners. They must be so offended when someone thinks nascar sucks.". And lastly I also think nascar sucks.

Wow you're thick. By them stating that the challenge was to get the other host killed and then writing those statements on the cars, implies that they were trying to piss people off. It worked. If they had been in another part of the country, they would've wrote something different. It didn't help matters that they were British either. Talk all you want on a T.V. show, but don't expect hugs when you come to America and TRY to piss us off. 99% of the time it's going to work. I love Top Gear and I live in the most southern state in the U.S. and i thought it was hilarious.

Your right that guy is thick and this episode was funny the only thing I had a problem with is the fact that the show would embrace one stereotype and condemn another to the point of getting rid of someone. The guy above thinks it's okay because they're white, so they can be made fun of, the problem with that is that's not the way equality works. If it was equal they would do a similar episode in the ghetto but they'd never do that because they would get sued off the air for being racist.

Once again, even though they knew it would get them in trouble, it still isn't offensive.

Well now huckleberry that's subjective isn't it? There are a great deal of things I don't find offensive but others do and because I have the ability to see things from both sides I understand why.

Staged. In the u.s everyone minds their own business including in Bama. They would have just laughed at the cars. Now, if you go to the hood with fried chicken written in your car or grape cool aid then you will most definitely get shot by a black man. Welcome to america.

Have you seen the episode? It wasnt staged. Also everything that happend to them would happen to anyone if you had that stuff written on your vehicle. Just look what happened in Argentina...
