My friends eventually stopped asking because my parents always said no.

I used to have to ask my mom if I could have someone's number and wait for her permission before I could text them . . . I was a sophomore in high school and she still did this to me. Like I literally could not text my best friend of four years bc she didn't trust them. So I had to give her my mom's number and I would have to ask for permission if I ever had to text her for anything. And after our conversation she would read through all the texts to make sure 'nothing inappropriate' went on.

I once got grounded for watching a Taylor Swift music video because it was too "sexually graphic"... it was Bad Blood.

Texting wasn't a big thing when I was in school. I hung out with the druggies and kids who skipped school a lot so I can understand why they didn't want me around them.

I know a senior in high school whose parents won't even give her a phone she shares with her mom and she's getting ready to go to college and they still won't get her one

#GrowingUpWithStrictParents What even is dating? I've heard about it in fairytales.
