Once I was volunteering at my local library and there was a summer reading encouragement plan. We were putting the stuff in bags, and a few had "golden tickets" that could be redeemed for a free book of the kid's choosing. A kid with a hearing aid showed up with a dad that seemed pretty distant and I was just making a new bag, so I decided to give the kid a golden ticket. The look on his face was so sweet. He was so happy and I felt good about making his day. The simple things matter, and I hope that even though his dad wasn't being the greatest (I shouldn't judge though, since I don't know them) I made his day and the times he was reading that book so much better

I grew up half deaf, my right ear is almost completely gone, I was made wear a hearing aid, and as a result, was bullied alot over it, got to the point where I just wouldn't wear my hearing aid, I would just sit in the back corner of class, out of sight, not able to hear anything for my entire primary and highschool career, as a result, my grades went through the floor because I couldn't learn. I am so happy to see someone has done something for thee kids so they won't have to go through what I did.
