SCIENCE SIDE OF FUNSUBSTANCE! Is this thing real? Or another hoax like that other hoverboard thing? It looks real, so I'm gonna say it is.

It's real but it's sort of a hidden trick. It's basically maglev technology. There's a hidden magnetic track under the surface of the skatepark that the board is hovering above. It's still really cool but not Back to the Future 2 yet.

Am I too late? Crf is right there is a hidden magnetic track. What's in the board is a set of superconducting magnets, which have to be kept super cold which is why there was vapor coming out of it.

But what's the point? It only flies an inch off the ground and moves exactly the same as a regular skateboard

okay..so here's the Mom in me; why not helmets? I would think that they would be a bit more responsible if this truly is a real advertisement.

I know what you mean but most of the skaters I know don't wear them. The kids yes but not really the adults.
