Not to be a bummer but teachers know this trick bc it's been on the internet to long. So I would send them half your essay or a different one and then next day say I sent you the wrong thing. They are bound to let you get away with 1-2 more days.

Not many teachers have seen this in my experience, but they all know that a corrupted file is only from a damaged hard drive, or a deleted file that could only be partially recovered because of drive rewrites. THEY KNOW. So just follow the instructions above, because that's more likely to work (if you have a nice teacher)

Most of my teachers in high school would have just said sorry for your bad luck.
