The problem with the 90s kid thing is that kids born in 99 think they're 90s kids when they're not. They're 00s kids.

I was born in '88 and only have vague memories of Wayne's World. That being said, I'm not big into music - that movie wasn't/isn't really my forte.

Knowing/liking a movie from before you were born is different than remembering when it first came out and was new to everybody. That's what they mean by only 90s or whatever kids remember, said thing was fresh and exciting and lasting in our memories. I love a lot of stuff from before my time but when my parents tell stories about how they remember hearing their first beatles song or seeing the first star wars i can sense a spark of light in their eyes as they remember. It's just different. You're young, you'll know what we're talking about in a few years.
