They're for people who have trouble hearing I think. I knew a girl who had one and that's what she said.

Its an implant hearing aid, it bypasses the basically nonfuctional ear and passes the information directly to the brain.

It's technical name is a cochlear implant it mimics the job of your inner ear parts.

After doing research on the cochlea/hair cells for a long time...I can never look at swirly ice cream the same again :\

Technically there's a magnet implanted in her head- the cochlear implant's receiver attaches to that.
