No, I think what you're thinking of is Mendel's pea plant experiment, maybe??

Yeah, I googled it and in English it is indeed Punnett squares. My biology teacher always called it Mendel squares, so I guess it's a different language thing. And yes, it was obviously named like that to honor Mendel and his experiments. (Did you know he also experimented with another plant but that was apparently not very successful so people just don't talk about it? That's what my teacher told us anyways.)
