I work at a call center and for security cellphones are not allowed on the floor and we do not have an extension as calls are routed randomly. We do have an emergency line that when someone calls it the call gets routed to our boss.

I also work at a call center for at&t and we are allowed to keep our cellphones on us and we have our extensions too. I wouldnt have made my commebt unless speaking from experience

Relax I wasn't attacking you I only left my comment to show that there are different rules for different call centers so it is not all the same across the board for them. Just because you can have your phone and have an extension doesn't mean all call centers allow it.
