Rangers is the extreme of the extreme, apart from the fact that they probably weren't allowed to sign up for ages, most women don't possess the physical capability
There have been others that tried. These are only two of eight that attempted this time. It's a rigorous camp requiring less than minimal food and extreme carry weight. Also you jump out of an airplane with no parachute(low altitude, low speed.)
Correct. And the recon teams don't meet spec for strike. I am not in any way minimizing the accomplishment of these two women. I think any woman that wants to challenge herself should be given the opportunity. And these two excelled.
They didn't pass with the same standards. It was dialed down in each phase of the school and instances that would have terminated male candidates were over looked.
This isn't true. Lowered pack weights. Recycled into 3 different classes after failing out multiple times. Multiple other concessions. Perhaps you are the one who didn't look into it?
"At an outdoor ceremony, Maj. Gen. Austin S. Miller, commanding general of the U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence, addressed critics who questioned whether standards of the rigorous course were lowered for the two female Rangers. They met every requirement the men did, he said."
Oh really? Because I'm sure all the military officials who are arguing for these women are just making it up, that seems like something worth spending their time on, of course.
As to what you said about being recycled, that happens to about 34% of Ranger graduates. I couldn't find anything that suggested that the pack weights were lowered, but every source I looked at said the standards were kept the same.
The rangers aren't a joke, and way more than 2 women would get in if the requirements were any different
