Is it just me or is it true that when a black person acts like a white person everyone is like hey that's a normal person but when a white person acts like a black person both communities are like wtf is wrong with you. Like. We're all Americans here. Lets not continue to do that?
First of all, not even the native english speakers here are all "(us-)americans".
"Acting as a black" has historic roots in blackfacing which is widely seen as derogatory, at least by black people. There is a significant power gap between black and white us americans and its just very bad style for the group in charge to pose as the other.
If a white acts like their (black) peer group and s/he does it out of respect and perhaps even admiration, the black folks will usually see it the way its meant and roll with it. If its done for following a trend and acting cool, it will be seen as a cultural rip off. As far as I can tell, theres more white folks who have a problem with Iggy than blacks.
"Acting black" is a ridiculous phrase that basically only has negative connotations. If you think Iggy azalea acts how normal black people act you're wrong
I think its a bit more complex than that, cause theres (prominent) black persons that really "act black", which is to be seen as a gesture of pride and self confidence, Chris Rock would be a good example. It should not offend a white person if a black person uses the N word.
If you think we're all Americans in the first place, why would you even bring up her race. Eminem is one of the best rappers in history and he's white. Iggy didn't sell enough because shes trash, end of story.
Oh shit
She's got no talent
