There are times I seriously question the generation of kids we are currently raising

I don't hate them, I don't understand why when I was 12 and brought home a report card with straight Cs, my mother started looking at me differently, stopped telling me she loves me, brushed me off when I wanted to hug her, made fun of me when I told her about the little things in school, told me to break it off with my boyfriend because she didn't approve but never consoled me after I did or why she never told me that it'd be okay when I was rejected from my dream med school, or why father never noticed any of this. That's when I started (a) loving inanimate objects like my books and my phone and my iPad and my computer because they seemed better, an option; (b) to look for boyfriend after boyfriend to depend on emotional dependency for; (c) stopped telling her what I did or didn't do at school because it didn't matter. The point is there are two sides to every story. If at a crucial time in their life, a child is not engaged with bya parent, they will grow up to dishout the same.

I'm really sorry about what happened to you but how come you got straight C? And you already have a boyfriend at twelve?

Don't forget to add "you want to force other people to pay for your useless degree?"
