So Hijab is the ideology - the concept. And a Burka is the long black dress? Then there was something starting with an 'a'... I thought Abaja? And that's the head scarf?
Abaya is the long dress, it can be worn in any color but a lot of people wear it in black since its perceived to be the most modest color. I've never been very clear on what exactly a burka is since I come from Egypt and here the word hijab is used both to represent the ideology and as a name for the head scarf.

Burka is a one piece cover that goes over the head and all the way down to the ground (covering the body and face). Burkas are commonly worn in Afghanistan and other parts of the world; some believe they are worn in areas affected by constant sand storms and sun exposure. The niqab is the concept of covering the face.
