We live in a country built on Christian beliefs. As an athiest, I have accepted that and don't get all butt hurt when people use merry Christmas instead of happy holidays. I really don't care.
If you're talking about the US, I'd double check your historical sources. Some of the founding fathers may have been Christian, but the foundations of this country were largely secular.
