What you should REALLY look for are pennies made of copper from 1941-1943. They made he pennies out of silver then, bc they had to save copper for the war. They are worth tens of thousands.

Now, it's true that 50 cent pieces were alloyed with silver prior to...IIRC, 1965. So, a Ben Franklin 50 cent piece or a '64 Kennedy half dollar might be worth more than 50 cents depending on the wear.
