If a priest was arrested, I predict almost all of the Catholic (and general Christian) community would be up in arms. I don't know what the result would be.
If a priest revealed the confession, I predict there would be a half-half uproar throughout America; half in support and the other half in condemnation for his actions. Those who support the revealing would generally be atheists, people who's only moral compass is the law, and people who support catching criminals at any cost. Those in condemnation would be generally at least the religious community of Jews, Christians, and Islam plus those who believe an oath to office (especially an oath to a religious office) should be taken more seriously than one's life.
