Why does this always happen?

I mean, I know I'm hardwired for "fight or flight" but I wouldn't think it applies for a phone call with my grandma...

*Me being totally normal for a sec*
Brain: Bite your fingers off.
Me: What?! No?!
Brain: Well someone gotta do it
Me: No. No one got to bite my fingers off. Ever.

I do this, and it's horrible because we don't have a cordless phone, so I'm basically tethered to the wall, and a 10 foot area around it, so I get to walk back and forth and back and forth and back and forth.
