Brace yourselves, critical rant comment incoming:
I saw Grease for the first time recently and I've only been questioning the characters' morals the entire time. The girl was nice, pretty, a perfectly fine girl the way she was, and she got the guy's utmost attention by dressing up like a whore at the end of the movie. The two first met by having unprotected sex at the beach, and the worst thing about this is, they are trying to disguise it as feelings while, if we do the reality check, we'll see that it was only an infatuation and that it won't last, and if it will, it's gonna be a problematic relationship
Same with Footloose, even though I find that a bit better. I don't understand how could our parents like this kind of stuff. I mean, I'm totally fine with two people banging because it's their decision, but what really gets me is that they are too fucking stupid to see it's only physical attraction and misinterpret it as feelings. They're making a decision based on appearance. Dumb
You know that most these movies characters are teens. So, I don't know about you but some teens not all based their feelings on physical attraction instead of emotional. And our parents like this because it was a sort rebelling against their parents. These thing, like today, are very taboo with parents. Stay a virgin until marry, respect your elders, be a sheep and follow the rules, stay out of trouble these some of the things those movies went against. Also these movies were made in the late 70's early 80's. This is the start of teen rebellion and teen movies. In that era the movies are for teens and only teens. Which makes that any movies that came out in that era are targeted for teens and not their parents. The marketing now and then, targeted kids or teens because they have the time to watch these movies and the parents will fork over the money to just get the kids out of their hair.
Yeah. I guess I was never like that, even in my teenage years. (And considering I'm 18 now it's not that far away, so I remember) But then again, my sense of morality and conscience is weird.
I get you ewqua. It bothers me too. And it wasn't just Sandy changing herself, it was Danny too. I thought that was kind of common sense that if you have to completely change yourself for a relationship, it probably isn't thing to work.
I understand everything you say. I was neither of these but I friends that were or going through this phase. But to brethilwen, in a way Danny was changing to be good and have a better life. Danny was part of the "bad" crowd. He would not have a chance in having a better life with his crowd.

Doesn't mean he has to turn into a prep/jock to have a better life.
Right but in this situation the prep/jock represent "good" crowd.. Now a days people forget the contexts of the situations in different era's. Where one thing means something today is totally different from yesterday or tomorrow. People in that era only thought that if you were prep/jock would get further in life. For example go to college, get a well standing job, and leave their s****y town. While the delinquent stop improving their life right after high school. They do not try to go to college, probably work two jobs, and stay in their miserable town. Today we do not think that because we find that thinking repulsive. There is no distinction between prep/jock or delinquents on "good/bad" crowd it is just a mixture.
