My friends and I broke down heading home from the beach before and a nice farmer picked us up and drive us to town so we could call someone to come get us.

i got picked up for gas a lot, and blown out tires, most mechanical issues come up when you try to start the car so that was normally just a job of pushing it to the mechanics we trusted (when you got a mom and pop car shop behind a pizza joint, you tend to not fuck over the drivers, cuz then ALL the drivers will use you)

Nice. I know her problem was mechanical but I don't remember what it was. All I remember was all my friends freaking out and me being calm and trying to problem solve. (Didn't actually help much but it's nice to know I can keep my head in a crisis). XD

Yeah that happened before any of us had cell phones. Now that problem would have a much simpler solution.
