Same.. When I was forced to cross the deep end, I'd swim as fast as I could so the shark couldn't get me. Once I was in the shallow end I was safe.

i use to live with my brother so I could help him take care of his 5 year old daughter while he was at work. Well we lived in an apartment building with a heated pool so swimming was all year around even night. Well the only thing is my niece would try to go to the pool at night by sneaking out side. This girl was crafty she even climbed out her dad's window, which she had to get to by climbing over him. Luckly we were on ground level. Well the only way we got her to stop was tell her that the appartment owners released the cleaner sharks out at night. They cleaned the pool and ate anyone that go in at night. We even pretend a drain is where they get in.

You know it worked great till a bunch of teenage boys were swimming one night and.she saw as we were going home. She ran to the pool yelling "get out sharks eat you " so we told her sharks only eat little girls. She asked how does the shark know she is not a boy and before we could come up with anything she said "is it cause i dont have a finger?" We started to laugh and she said "i need a finger so i can swim. Can you get me a finger daddy so me can swim?" She is in her teens now and every summer someone ask if she needs a finger to swim at night so the sharks think she is a boy.

Especially after watching Jaws. And it was only the deep end. I felt perfectly safe until I got past 4 feet.
