Can someone explain this a lil better? I don't understand it

A lightsaber works by emitting a beam of plasma and, after a certain point, channeling it back using an electromagnetic field. This creates a powerful gyroscopic force. This gyroscopic force makes the lightsaber want to stay in a certain direction. This is why thrown lightsabers spin, and why they require great strength and agility to wield.

In other words, twisting an activated lightsaber is a lot harder than it looks.

So accidental decapitation is even more likely with this info.

Not decapitation necessarily. More like cleaving through your shoulder or kidney considering the way *most* people would hold and move a lightsaber.

Well that's one way to take care of a kidney stone.

So you're saying that "lightsaber" is technically a misnomer and that it is more properly a "plasmasaber"?

Yes.

Although you could easily counter this gyroscopic effect by having two thinner plasma streams flowing opposite directions...
