The only problem is that without people going out and getting actual jobs doing thing they may or may not like there would be no money to pay for art.

How is that a problem? If people are not capable of creating art, or entertaining and inspiring other people, their contribution is to have a steady job, pay taxes and thus allow for others to do this. Not many pieces of art in history have been created after office hours by some worker bee, but usually by some type of derelict, subsidized by insanely rich merchants and monarchs. People like to forget that a society is a pretty complex construction. People need professionalism, science and trade, and they need dreams, art and beauty and other economically "senseless" things. So in short form: if you're not an artist, don't be envious and question their goals and lifestyle, rather be grateful, accept and cherish their contribution. And fucking pay for it, because without them, what would be left to live for? Says a tax paying 9-2-5er by the way...
