That's not really the point. Her guidance counselor, the person who is supposed to be helping her, isn't taking anything she says into consideration and is basically telling her she's automatically going to fail, so why bother giving it a shot. I admit, some of the schools she's looking at are pretty far out of her reach, but you're not supposed to just shut the students down like that.

Oh don't get me wrong I fully agree that the counselor is wrong for that but she should try anyway I applaud her for wanting to apply for schools that may seem out of reach it shows ambition

Yeah, I think she might still try for some of them. I hope she does, anyway. Some would actually probably be impossible but like I said, you don't just flat out stomp on her dreams.
