That makes no sense. Not all kids get a huge shitstorm of letters. Most kids just receive letters by an owl. Harry was special because the Dursleys didn't let the letters in.
He got a shitstorm of letters and decided on the harder task of catching one instead of the easier task of trying to get them off of the floor. It wasn't like they were constantly flying around, a lot just came in at one time. He could have easily picked at least one up and hid it
Yeah, I know. But that means that this kind of "test" doesn't really exist for other kids, which means that for them there's one less way to prove themselves.
